Corries Maria goes walkies

Coronation Street’s Maria won’t be in the hairdressers on Saturday 15th March she’ll be at Planters Garden Centre to officially open their New Pet Centre.

Stuart Gooden, Planters manager told us, “We invited Samia Smith, Corries former kennel maid and now the Street’s hair raising hairdresser Maria to perform the opening ceremony. She is a real animal lover… oops that didn’t sound right… she loves animals and is really looking forward to the launch”

At a cost of nearly half a million pounds, Planters new Pet Centre has taken six months to build and covers an area of 6,000 square feet.

Planters have also invested in new staff, all of which are pet owners and all are keen to answer customers’ pet related questions. Stuart continued, “We have sold pets at Planters for over ten years so we have a very good understanding of pet care and know just what people want to buy, the new Pet Centre will enable us to offer even greater levels of service and choice”.

Owner Gerald Ingram is keen to promote the quality of life that pet ownership brings and plans to create an area for chickens at Planters to show how easy it can be for customers to produce fresh eggs.

Gerald told us, “We’ll have great opening offers and fantastic freebies; we’ve also got parrots, reptiles, snakes and a wonderful range of cute and cuddly pets with everything you need to give them a loving home and we have a wide selection of products and food for wild birds.”

If your passion is for fish, you can visit the Ripples Aquatic Centre, and for the green fingered, Planters have also extended their current garden centre to offer all the latest products.

Just last week, two litters of baby rabbits were born at Planters so it looks like the New Pet Centre is getting off to a flying start.

Planters new Pet Centre opens Saturday March the fifteenth and Maria will be available between 1.30 and 3.30 pm to meet her fans and sign autographs.
